Summary:

The System Administrator is responsible for managing business critical software and infrastructure, administering security policies, and ensuring high uptime rates. This individual will oversee local area networks, wide area networks, and various networking technologies, including but not limited to VPN, SD-WAN and Wi-Fi. Daily tasks may include configuring and enhancing cloud-based solutions, network solutions, and both cloud and local infrastructure. This individual will provide Tier 3 technical support for troubleshooting issues that are more advanced in nature and/or production critical. This person ensures all incidents and requests are analyzed, resolved and reported back within the promised timeframes and provides leadership guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts as needed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participate proactively in the design and architecture of robust, high-uptime and maintenance-friendly solutions in a manufacturing environment
  • Manage, monitor and optimize existing on-premises and cloud-based systems to ensure the server and network environment meets the expected service level and business continuity requirements
  • Support the documentation for both new and existing solutions and processes
  • Crosstrain others to strengthen the IT team and create opportunities to “shift left” responsibilities to L2 and L1 teammates
  • Administer servers, routers, switches, firewalls, software deployment, security updates and patches
  • Design, deploy and support LANs, WANs, network segments and VPN gateways
  • Assign network addresses, routing protocols and routing table configuration
  • Assist the cybersecurity team in the monitoring and maintenance of network and system security
  • Provide Tier 3 support for manufacturing production systems
  • Design and implement new capabilities in remote monitoring and endpoint management tools to ensure better overall performance and experience for end users
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
  • Stay current on technology trends and new solutions in the marketplace to address current and future opportunities for improvement
  • Make recommendations for future process and technology upgrades

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities

 

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the computer information field required, and 5+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience may also be considered
  • AWS Cloud administration, solution architecture and design, and cost optimization (3–5 years’ experience)
  • Working skill level of networking, switches, VOIP, WAN/LAN, Servers, Wi-Fi, & VPN
  • Experience in the setup and support of enterprise level networks (Meraki experience preferred) and firewall/SASE solutions (Fortinet experience preferred)
  • Management of solutions in manufacturing environments with high-uptime requirements
  • Implement cybersecurity controls in coordination with the cybersecurity team
  • Current knowledge of emerging cybersecurity trends and challenges
  • Experience with device imaging, setup, and configuration
  • Experience with Microsoft Identity Management and Governance (Entra/Azure Identity Governance) or similar IMG/IGA platforms

Travel Requirements:

The travel required for this position is less than 10%.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. Individuals are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at designated times and in specified environments in accordance with established safety program requirements. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. While performing job duties, individuals may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
