Summary:

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and maintain the company safety records and programs performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Maintains and implements OSHA required written programs addressing employee safety and trains employees on safety and health requirements.

  • Audits workplace conditions to ensure regulatory compliance by identifying hazards, proper use of safety equipment, and unsafe work practices and institute controls to abate violations.

  • Maintains all safety training and inspection documents as evidence of compliance.

  • Assists with the investigation of accidents and injuries, assisting development and follow-up of corrective action plans, and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.

  • Supports Department Safety personnel with the preparation and presentation of meeting materials and associated reports.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.  Preferred Associated degree in safety related field or at least 5 years of combined education and experience in a safety related field in a Manufacturing or industrial Environment. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and EPA state regulation/laws. Experience with developing training materials, facilitating training sessions, data collection and analysis. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Working knowledge of Excel running and creating functions, pivot tables and charts.

No certifications or licenses required.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Proper lifting techniques required.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The travel required for this position is 10%.

 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  An individual may be required to wear appropriate safety protective equipment at the proper times and in the proper environments as outlined by safety program rules.  The noise level in the work environment is loud in certain areas of the facility.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
