Position Summary:

 

The purpose of this position is to carry out duties in accordance with overseeing and coordinating the department’s daily productivity and production by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

 

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Review equipment at the start of each shift.
  • Assists Press Operator with head/tail stretcher, cooling table, saw table, chip collector, loading machine pallet conveyor and aging oven.  Adjust equipment when necessary to ensure proper operation.
  • Inspect products for quality and defects using visual observations as well as calipers and a Webster Hardness Tester.
  • Identify defective product and determine possible causes and make adjustments as needed to equipment.
  • Support maintenance on preventive maintenance and downtime events as needed.
  • Cover overtime as needed for other Shift Leads or Press Operator absences.
  • Coordinates daily production requirements via dispatch schedule and coordinates the sequencing of materials through the process to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Ensures work area and all shift employees follow safety regulations to include but not limited PPE, confined space, spill control, lockout tagout, 5S and general working conditions.
  • Conduct monthly safety topic meetings with employee(s).
  • Reviews and recommends to Department Leadership any measures to improve the department and areas to include but not limited to production methods, equipment, quality, safety, and service, performance of the equipment and individual’s shift responsibilities.
  • Assists with the training and development of their individual crew.

 

At YKK AP America Inc., pay is only part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The hourly pay range for this position ranges from $25.00-$30.00, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. 

 

Education/Experience:

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 1 - 3 years of experience within the extrusion department or manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Work Schedule:

 

Position will be based on Third Shift:  11:00pm - 7:30am 

 

Travel Requirements:

 

 Travel required for this position is less than 5%.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 

 

Work Environment:

 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  An individual may be required to wear appropriate safety protective equipment at the proper times and in the proper environments as outlined by safety program rules.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.  There will be periods of exposure to high heat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions and vibration.
