Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to craft and direct execution of a forward-looking security strategy, working closely with management across the organization. This position is responsible for directing, providing oversight, participation and compliance with security policies, procedures, programs, self-audit initiatives and strategic plans for all YKK AP America Inc. locations to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, and visitors. Additionally, this role will also monitor and respond to security incidents, conduct security education and training for employees.

 

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement enterprise security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Drive a culture of organizational learning, for example ensuring that the enterprise actively uses data, metrics and other inputs relating to security with a view to identifying and acting upon meaningful (and sustainable) improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures security operational reviews are conducted quarterly at all locations to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions. Works closely with local leadership to correct deficiencies and increase compliance to these requirements.
  • Manage the access control process, including processing employee security access, maintaining security access records, and conducting periodic reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and manage physical security guidelines, policies, and procedures by employing an understanding of security business controls, strategies, and methodologies. This includes ongoing security in key areas such as: access control and Digital IP Video Surveillance management systems, visitor management, reporting, and incident management systems across all locations, technical security and early-warning systems, fire safety, emergency planning and response, handling major medical incidents or acute threats to ensure strict enforcement of these programs.
  • Recommends surveillance systems for designated areas and maintains and monitors all contracts for surveillance systems, activities, and camera installations.
  • Recommends alarm systems for designated areas and maintains and monitors all contracts for alarm systems.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents, including conducting investigations and reporting incidents to appropriate authorities.
  • Fosters and maintains relationships with community agencies (e.g. Police, Fire Rescue, etc.) to support safety and security operations at all YKK AP locations and during emergency events.
  • Preparing for and hosting inspections and/or audits by 3rd party auditors when required.
  • Manage and conduct all internal and external theft and workplace violence investigations. Prepares and ensures that results of all investigations are documented professionally in reports according to company standards.
  • Provide insight and input to enterprise-wide Security priorities and projects, likely taking ownership of one or more projects on behalf of the enterprise.
  • Maintain a medium to long term perspective to ensure the region is prepared for changes to the security environment, including evolving external threats and regulatory changes.
  • Act as a key conduit between Global RISK colleagues and local leadership, to support effective crisis preparedness and response.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, build and maintain relationships with senior management, and other operational leaders to develop a keen understanding of security needs; ensure innovative and balanced delivery of security services to meet those needs, and respond with agility to changing institution priorities.
  • Communicate technology initiatives, resources, and interdependencies with management to plan capital resource requirements and technology integrations.
  • Lead vendor, contractor, and supplier contracts. Acquire bids and arrange for repair and supply contracts within approved limits. Research vendors to ensure that supplies, equipment, and services are of acceptable quality, competitively priced, and delivered timely. Establish and maintain updated lists of vendors. Continually evaluate vendors/suppliers and make formal recommendations as warranted.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years or more related experience and management in the security industry.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word and Excel
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel to visit site locations
