Summary: 

 This position involves the end-to-end handling of materials within a manufacturing

environment. The role requires a blend of machine operation (conveyors, palletizers), precise quality

control using technical instruments, and computer data entry. The employee is responsible for moving

materials from the staging area through the production line to packing, p&d, and fabrication ensuring all

products meet specific standards (YKK standards) before shipping.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Conveyor Operation- Employees must understand how to run foot controlled conveyors to stage the material and how the set the speed of the conveyors to get correct spacing of material before loading.

Operate Depalletizer - Employee must understand the procedure for setting according to the layers and height of the material on the pallet.

Operate the loading computer- the employee must determine the correct number of pieces to attach to each carrier bar to maximize efficiency and enter this number into the loading computer for each bar.

Racking Procedure- Employee must understand the correct method to secure the profile to a holding jig which is attached to a carrier bar.

Understand how to fill the Palletizer with spacers when needed.

Calibrate the Konica Minolta color meter, operate the meter, and how to input the standards into the meter.

Material Inspection - Check the color with the Konica Minolta meter, check the film thickness, check the gloss, and check for any visual defects.

Verify the piece count to match what was on the bar when loaded rejecting any pieces that do not meet YKK standards.

Operate the unloading computer - After the employee determines how many pieces were defect- free, enter this information into the unloading computer along with rejected pieces.

Operate Palletizer - Set the palletizer according to length of material to load finished material onto a pallet to send to the next process making sure spacers are between each layer.

Send loaded pallets with finished material on the Norcon conveyor to the Packing area.

Perform housekeeping duties at the end of each shift or when needed. (5S)

Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Utilize forklift to load and unload material from the production line

Assist in all scheduled maintenance activities for the department, including yearly shutdowns requiring mandatory attendance

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED Required

Must have at least 1 year experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment

Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, etc.)

Must have good communication and organizational skills

Forklift experience (preferred)

 

 

Travel Requirements:

 The travel required for this position is 1%.

 The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Proper lifting techniques required.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  

 

 

Work Environment:

 The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. An individual may be required to wear appropriate safety protective equipment at the proper times and in the proper environments as outlined by safety program rules. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions and vibration.

 

At YKK AP America Inc., pay is only part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The hourly pay range for this position ranges from $18.21-$22.16, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
